On Saturday 17th June we took a small team up to Motherwell to compete at the WKA British open, it was one of the best competitions we have attended this year.
It started on time, had fair judges and a really friendly atmosphere.
Ethan was first on the mats to compete in his points category, which he stormed!!
Winning all opponents with ease to become British Champ.
Megan then stepped on to the mats to compete in her Light continuous category.
She fought a very tough and experienced fighter, Megan put her on the back foot to start with, this caused her opponent to
turn it up a gear. It was a great fight to watch and Megan’s second competition, she did ATF and herself proud, coming home with a silver medal!
Ethan then had his light continuous category to fight, which once again he dominated, making him 2 x WKA British Champion.
Ethan Cooper has been selected to represent England in this year’s World Championships to be held October in Spain.
This is a tremendous privilege and an honour for him, however it comes at a considerable cost! Kickboxing doesn’t attract lottery funding or government grants, so we have to look at other avenues.
We are looking for 4 or 5 companies who’d be willing to sponsor Ethan to raise the funds to get him to the World championships.
If you or any of your friends own small businesses and would like to advertise as well as helping a young, local, dedicated and gifted kickboxer then please get in touch
